At least the game creators know that many of us would like some tweaks in that dep for sure. I do think most of us do agree we should never be pit against someone that is 2-3-4-5 times you level. I see a max possible limit of something like, 20 versus 30, a possible -/+ 10 or 5 levels but 5 levels might be too difficult to manage but at the very least, no matter what, you should NEVER be challenging or challenged by someone OVER 10 levels to you.

And clearly nadia you didnt read me at all. I said CLEARLY that this isn't about winning all the time, I said CLEARLY that it's about losing 98% of those encounters against people that are so hugely above your level.

IMO, you clearly owe Nadia an apology for being so CLEARLY rude. There is no reason to be so CLEARLY testy.

See how it feels? Not very nice.

I have no idea what you are on there, but if you want to troll please go troll somewhere else. I owe no one apologies, I'm not even sure sure where that psychotic outburst came from in the first place.

If you have nothing to say in a thread, avoid spamming the thread, thank you.

Actually, this forum has a ignore feature at least, you'll guess you've been added to it.

I think that a horse with decent levels can beat another horse 2-3 times it's level if it can. though, maybe we can ask to have the compotitions changed depending on what your horses skill level is?

Ah, no matter how you look at it, it's all horse poo. Today, I was having to compete against level 70+, one was level 77. Makes me very suspicious of the entire thing actually as I do not see how someone could be legit 77 horse competition, the horse shoes requires for breeding and cross breeding to attain that kind of level, to me that sounds like there's something very nefarious behind it all.

The amount of horseshoes seem to become astronomical only when you continue to train the same horse rather than breed 2, which will reduce the amount of horseshoes needed to train in the horse that's produced. I'm usually ready to move onto another one when the numbers get into the mid-20's. It's also helpful if you upgrade all of your training grounds and then only use 20 horseshoes at a time, as the level of upgrade you've reached on the training ground is added to tally of stars collected whenever you train. That way you maximize the amount of stars you can get out of a small number of horseshoes. For example, if you use 20 horseshoes to train your horse, that's only 2 stars, but if you've upgraded your training ground to level 8, that's 10 per 20 horseshoes It's slow going but effective.

Yes, the island farms are very difficult for smaller farms to afford, making it very difficult new farms to support them and almost impossible to finish even one chapter, however, you can move slowly on the island farms as well, and make enough horseshoes to buy a few seeds, and then if you save them to only use when you're capable of filling all 6 slots on the ship you're getting the most horseshoes for the money spent. A good strategy is to go into the event farm manager and find out what product there is the easiest to make. On the viking farm it would be the tunic. You can just grow flax over and over, making tunics, without worry about the actual tasks provided since it will take millions to complete even just the first chapter, and still make of the rune stones to buy a decent amount of seeds. When those seeds aregrown wisely, only when you have greenhouse humus available and spent only when you can get the loading bonus from the ship, you can get enough horseshoes to keep your horse in constant training. It's been working for me. I'm in the diamond league now.

Right now I am in the gold league. I am losing to level 20s and I am level 20. Doesn't matter. I won't give up.

You gotta laugh at these developers, for all the complex ways they bring you to the final stage of horse competition and it is just a random selector that has nothing to do with level is beyond illogical.I have seen 3 level 0 horses in the gold league this current championship which just proves you don't have to train, upgrade fields, fill the boat..nothing, just enter the tourney and your guaranteed at least gold level, will be hilarious when everyone is racing 0 against 0 soon as more and more realize its all based solely on chance .

Greatbay, a low level horse in a high level league doesn't mean that's the horse that got there. There's a bug where if you select the option to always use your strongest horse when challenged, the game actually uses your WEAKEST horse. So a person with a strong horse could be winning most of their challenges, while you see their weakest horse when you challenge them. Because of this, it's a good idea to manually select which of your horses is used. Some people have reported problems even when the automatic option isn't selected, so It's a good idea to occasionally look at the messages about you horse being challenged to verify that your best horse is being used.

Here is a tip about this: Training horses 2 levels at a time for each attribute when you reach level 20. It is time consuming, but worth it when done.

But the competition shouldn't be like a lottery! Levels should count for something in a competition!

I happen to agree with all these people complaining. The matching is totally unequal. But once in awhile my horse, who is level 42 runs against someone who is a 27 and GETS BEAT!! I train my horse all the time. There is no way in this world someone at that level can beat my champion horse. I feel like I'm being set up to lose all the time.

Here's more competition crazy time. I was facing a level 84 today, my horse is level 30 and has been 30 for ever since most of us are not able to get those horse shoes in any quantity that is required for breeding and rebreeding. Not only that horse is almost THREE time my level but that guy and many more seems to be able to get those horse shoes without problem.

But again a perfect example, most of my competitor are either 2x or near 3x my level. Assured losses as always. Pretty much, I act as a win-farming for almost everyone in the competition the way I see it.

Heck I was beaten by a level 11 once and my horse is 30, not even sure what are the maths for that.

Technically speaking, they would need to rehaul the competition aspect for sure. None of us are asking to win all the time but most of us do understand that the currents maths are not really working.

Many don't even like the horse side of the farm, but for me, it's like a game within a game, a way of getting away from my corn and gambling with my horse which is a bit of fun.

I'll never really grow my horse beyond 40 since the horse shoes required is just insane, even reach 40 will be insane enough a goal for me so I won't bother with the headache of going any further unless things change or I am sure there is no cheating going around because I find it hard to believe that some people can acquire enough horseshoes to get that high that fast. And as with all games, there are no exception to that rule, they are always a few weasels to find a way to exploit something, always.

for the horseshoes it really depends on how much moneyand time you are willing on putting into the temp farms i decided to put a lot or at least what i had and kind of hold off on my main farm when i was level 30 because i wanted the horse shoes and the only way to get them fast is by filling the last 2 spots on the ship i think i had my horse to level 40 in like 3 months or a little less
  • Yeah but still I cannot even think of the amount of shoes needed to 84, it just boggles the mind.

I presume that, the more people comment about the algorithm not being right for matches, eventually they will put a restriction on level limit top and under your own level tho, just depends how many people contribute in comments and if they really value these comments.

And this new forum format is just... yuck.
  • Every single issue described here can be summed up with a simple word: Balance.
Many games have this problem in ranked type play and the only way encourage people to continue playing it is to balance the system out. If there is little chance of winning, people will stop playing, it's that simple.

Hey guys, After reading through this thread, I have decided to bring this issue up during my next meeting with the developers. It seems as though the competition is not running as we intended it to, and if this is the case it will need to be adjusted. If you notice anything else you want to bring to their attention, please let me know.

    Regards,
    Stan

"Not running as we intend it to."  I should think not!  My level 11 horse was pitted against a 100!  For the fun of it I did it.  I should have had ZERO chance against a horse 89 levels higher than mine.  (89!  Seriously!)  I. WON.  Yeah, to that level 100 who got whomped by an 11, sorry, I was just trying to prove this horse thing is very badly in need of an overhaul.

Why is it in the Uncle George event we are pitted against similarly leveled people, but NOT in the horse competitions?

The entire Horse season is UNFAIR.
The GLITCHES, the RESETS, the taking of GOLD...
    Shall I go on....
The entire Program needs fixing or REMOVED....

The last few times I bred horses, the number did not decrease. I was bummed because it felt like I wasted the parent horses.

Glad to hear this... as I (like many) have pretty much written off the horses. What is the sense in spending time and energy to update the rings (which is VERY time intensive and takes up my building slot... which I ALSO take issue with) when I desperately need to update my other farms more, then spend time and a LOT of money on the islands so I can get the special fruits, so then I can spend yet MORE time and materials to sell to the boat for maximum horseshoe profits, and THEN use those horseshoes to train the horse (and I agree that it takes an unreasonable amount... so I have totally halted THAT until all my rings are at level 9. But... they may NEVER be at that level due to reason number one above)... and after ALL this... I can be matched against a horse 2, 3, even 4 or 5 times my level? Thanks but no thanks GoodGames. I stopped playing Empires for reasons like this and certainly learned not to spend too much on a game I may have to walk away from. I admit that this wont make me walk (the horrid new deco challenge drop rates may, however)... but I totally ignore the horses for the most part now. If I win, I win... if I don't, whatever. I consider it rigged and treat it as such, when I feel this way about more than 50% of the game (and it is getting close lately)... I will simply stop playing. Especially as "support" is a joke and NEVER replies. On the rare occasion they HAVE to either myself or a co-op member, the reply was invariably "so sad, too bad, be mad... but we either can (or will) do nothing".   :/
  • By the way, POPEYE, you mentioned looking into this about a month ago. The3 next competition is set to start in about a week. Should we expect changes? Or should we just consider continuing to ignore the horses? Inquiring minds would LOVE to know.
