Suggestion/Camplaint about the gourmet farm

Prairiewitch (US1)Prairiewitch (US1) US1 Posts: 101
Complaint: I just purchased the gourmet farm, and am disappointed that all of the crops to be grown in the garden are not available until later levels. When I started this game, the other crops seemed to open up a level or 2 before the animal shed-pen were to be added and I could produce amounts to ready for the windmill to turn it into feed. A friend told me lambs lettuce takes 7 hours to produce and 3 or so for barley. So if I want to have feed waiting for the ducks/donkey means I will have to wait to add them until I have feed for them.
So here is my suggestion:
Make the crops that are used for feed available a level or 2 available before the animal pen can be purchased, especially since the growth time and processing time for feed is lengthy.

Agree I never have enough feed for my animals and have to wait and wait. Harvesting is slow, Is there anyway to fix this issue?

You get feed as a reward for finishing the animal pens. Plant lambs lettuce overnight and produce duck feed in the morning. By the time you get the ducks and donkey you should have lots of goat feed ahead so you can plant barley (3 hrs) first thing and make donkey feed overnight.

Use humus on your fields so that you grow as much as possible with each harvest & when you reach level 30, the nursery becomes available & that helps.

i think that it is a great game but I think that if you need more land it does not matter what level you are on it should not matter what level you are on you should be able to get more land no matter what level you are on

Don`t worry, we all went through that phase, you will soon have more feed than you know what to do with lol..... Upgrade your Mill as soon as its available, makes a HUGE difference with each upgrade.

Quit feeding your animals for a couple days and just grow crops and make feed. The animals won't die. You may struggle for dung for the silo but that's it. Get yourself ahead a bit and then start feeding again.

Just make sure your barn is full of donkeys first, for the ship. Milk and eggs you can get from your main farm.

I agree this is very difficult. But, I guess that people who already did well on their Main Farms need more of a challenge? Maybe that's why they decided to do it this way. One thing I did that helped me out a LOT is I bought both the barley and the donkey feed level 2 handbooks. I noticed that the donkey feed is what was holding my production up because: Goat feed doesn't take very long to produce and the Duck Coop takes a long time to get done so you don't have to continuously feed them to keep them running. However, barley takes FOREVER to grow, you don't get enough to make 1 thing of feed, and the Donkeys get done pretty much at the same pace that the feed gets done so where does that give you time to produce any other animals' feed? So, in my opinion: fix your donkeys, fix your problem. Barley and Donkey feed handbooks are awesome investments!

Also, you might want to look into more fields. I only have 1 of each stable right now (about to get a second goat pen) and I have 4 fields to keep up with the feed demands. Also, when you can, upgrade your water mill it will severely cut down on the time needed to produce the feed.

Oh and one more thing about donkeys: save your humus and use it on your barley. I know you're probably tempted to use it on your lamb's lettuce but at least in my case I feel like I never had enough barley so it's definitely worth it in my opinion.

You can increase your yields easily, it just takes practice, and you don't have to use gold to buy anything if you don't want to.
    1. Early on (when your level 35 to 40) build extra gardens ( I built 2 immediately and 2 more as i could afford them).

    2. When you're active in the game, grow Dandelions and Barley and when offline, grow Lamb's lettice, and use Humus to increase yields.

3.Keep the Mill upgraded, each level increases the amount of feed it makes, reduces the amount of crops needed per bag, and it gets faster.

    4. At level 37, upgrade your fields to level 2 and the Lamb's Lettuce harvest will increase by 33% ( from 60 to 93 per harvest)

    5. At level 47, upgrade your fields to level 3 and Barley harvest will increase by 31% (from 39 to 51 per harvest)

    6. Keep Moral high, the happier the workers are, the less you spend on running costs.
--- With running costs at -80% or lower, you will save thousands of dollars that can be used to get your 2nd farm running better.
--- At level 30+ you should be using decorations that have +30 or better happiness bonus, move lesser decorations to your
--- inventory and build better ones to replace them.

When playing keep organized and follow a production plan.
When your online , playing the game, grow Dandelions and Barley and make Duck and Donkey Feed.
When you're going to log off for the night or be away for 6 or more hours, grow Lamb's Lettuce and make Goat Feed.

If you are having trouble making money for these changes, grow more apples, produce more eggs, and then if you still want a boost grow more almonds.
Use them in the bakery to make more baked goods
