    A Thousand Impossible Words

Try to write a thousand words
    Painting the color of wind
    Or lightning's crack and thunder

    Listen to the startling crunch
    Of autumn leaves under foot
Watch the moon arouse the blackness
    Until morning wakes again
Then count (if you can) the clear titillating notes
    Of warblers and towhees

    Let each moment
    Swallow the page
    Stretch the world
    Drown our thoughts with sounds

    Line upon line
    We fill books
    Enough to bury the world
When their pages yellow and burn
    the ink of our voice
Leaps into the smoke and air
Leaving ashes to enrich the earth

    In the end
Can we say we've fully grasped
The burning we've labored to describe
Have we held illusions onto the page
Or recreated the acts of nature

    This is why
    We must have another poem
    Another page on which
    A thousand impossible words
    And impossible feelings
Burn as the ink of our soul

Your poem brought my heart a bit of a chuckle.  Poems are supposed to bring a reaction in the readers and yours filled the bill, in my opinion.  :D

Okay, I get it! Mind you, I tend to be more serious in tone of my poetry.  Here is my 2nd one.  It is in Haiku style.

    Over spring drenched hills
    Bumble bees hover the wind
    Clutching flower skirts

I am a tractor driver and I find it none too hard
so while I'm busy working I try to be a bard
I write long, lyric poems with metre, scan and rhyme
I really quite enjoy it and it helps to pass the time
I write about the birds and bees and things that fly around
and also of the furry things that scuttle on the ground
So if you're out a-walking and you see me driving by
expect a wave and a cheery word and a sonnet bye-and-bye

thinking what I love very much
and thats how my day begun
    feeling the sun's touch
    wondering about everything and everyone

and thats how my day begun
walking at the country collecting flowers
    wondering about everything and everyone
    sitting outside for hours

walking at the county collecting flowers
    yellow, pink and bright red
    sitting outside for hours
    making a beautifull flower bed

    yellow, pink and bright red
    under a clear blue sky
    making a beautifull flower bed
    daydreaming in July

    under a clear blue sky
    feeling the sun's touch
    daydreaming in July
thinking what I love very much...

and that is a pantoum slyle poem
where you have to repeat some lines in a specific order

There was a young man from Big Farm,

His farm-work did strengthen his arm.

    Little pigs three,

    fell into the sea.

So he scooped them out - saved them from harm.

With this game I shall farm,
until I can't with my arm.
The madness to achieve my goal
    brings winning to my soul.
For I am a competitive person,
which can sometimes leave you lonesome.
It's hard to achieve this winning peak,
if you have no gold so to speak.
It takes a lot to beat the best,
when you are dealing with all the rest.
So we play as hard as we can,
    buying gold when we can.
When missions are hard and we can't win,
we shelve and go it again.
My team is called the Farmasters,
and we are getting faster and faster.
So look out Big Farm players,
    because we are all dayers!

    Farming on the GGS Countryside,
on the goats, Kindlly barely will ride,
Travelling to each farm I go 'round
    to oversee the harvests abound.

    Starting up the Ol' powerhouse,
to boost the harvest of the cows.
During Missions I rev the Stackmaster,
and watch the Reps flow in faster.

Now over to the farm called Gourmet,
but only for a short stay.
Cranking up the speedy Farm Flash,
Baking goods done so fast, could cause whiplash.

Now off to the scented Flower Farm,
where the bees rarely cause any harm.
Take care while brushing the bees,
or the swarm could bring you to your knees.

One more stop on this farming excursion,
I call it my dreamers aversion.
Many know it as Tessa's Dream World,
where we gather diamonds in a frenzied whirl.

Settling my farms down for the night,
from the farm, I can finally take flight.
    Once completing the final task,
Off to sleep, for me at last!

  • I look out my window to see
The mountains dressed in red, purple and gold
Sitting on my porch, coffee in hand
It's a glorious sight to behold

Fall is here at last... I've waited so long
The air is clear, crisp, and fresh
My heart dances to the symphony
    My soul sings in happiness

  • The death of a beloved pet
    brought me to Big Farm.
    although I have yet,
    to understand it all.

With Nature I am in love
she is my muse, my mentor, soulmate.
she is all of the above.

Your compost bin is the key
    the thread that connects everything
Life and death are the same, you see?

My Big Farm dogs tell me when,
    running all around
    its time to train again.

This game keeps sadness at bay.,
    and one day soon
a new dog will come my way.

    ***end***
I apologize for this poem getting so depressing..but it's the reality. I was SO jazzed when I realized you can "pet" your farm dog with the cursor LOL-it's the little zeros and ones in life now right?
    Stay safe!
    Marcia

    Loving The Cloud  <3

Are you the glazing sun or the star?
    confused mortal, the endearing eyes.
poetic clang of the koel, in the country farm.

Are you the beginning or the end?
    Rapunzels, Cinderella, and yet you!
    strife, for the divine angels!

    You are the cloud,
    mushrooming the sky, like magic.
    Sky? befuddled glancing the clouds!

    Catcheize hang in the sky,
    Hapless, silenced, ones.
    Eternal saga flows the earth!

    wow... beautiful poems
you made my day reading them
this is my second try although not as good as some poems I already read

I feel a touch on my face
    its the wind
I hear a thunder far away
    What is left to say?

    Flowers bloom
Clouds are dancing in the silky sky
    I feel the breeze,
    do you?
Life is beautiful, live it as long as you may
    What is left to say?

    Only one thing to say
    Love yourselves in every way
Let no one hurt you in any way
    just... Feel, Breathe, Love...
    and seize the day!

There was a young farmer called Tess

Whose hair was never a mess

    She planted and fed

    And everyone said

Wow Tess! Your farm's a success!

    Form: Limerick

  • Believe in me said the sky to the tree
It is indeed the way the world should be
    Interdependent in love and grace
As the dew rests gently on the leaf
So we too must be the island
That sets all free to be.

I am an island in the sky

They call me "Cloud" by passers by

As I look down and see the farms

With all their animals, fields and barns

I have but one gift to give----

The Water of Life so all can live.

This is my purpose, I give it freely.

  • My second....here goes

    Village Fair

Sleepy eyes wake to the roosters crow
The smell of coffee is in the air
    I dress in haste...
    A smile on my face
It's the first day of the Village Fair

    Home made jams and jellies
    Corny's sweet funnel cakes
    Apple pies baked by Smitty
    Apollyons special brownies
    Hey!  Save some for me!

    Screams from the Ferris Wheel
Giggles at the merry go round
    Laughter between friends
    Cotton candy and hot dogs
    Chocolate fudge by the pound

The Village Fair is my favorite event
A happy time spent in the sun
    Good times shared by all
    Old friends and new
Three days of food and fun

    No.... Don't go!
