How do you manage with only 4 fields?

I have been looking at other people's farms, and some have a very
small number of fields, yet many 'animal sheds'.
How do they keep all their livestock fed with only a few fields to produce the feed?
I currently have 10 fields and want 2 more as I still get ZZZds!

Sometimes it is easier and cheaper to buy. Also books are wary helpful to get more from seeds and less feed . Hope it halls.DD

I do not know what level you are on PBH, but if you have 10 fields, and very few animal sheds, then how are you set for orchards? You have to animals to feed (crops) to get the dung (waste) for the silo (fertilizer) for the orchards. And most events involved apples and and MORE apples, then how are you getting them done? Do you have an nursery?
There is a cycle to this Farm game, to get to this point, you have to accomplish this point, and so on and so forth and the more you level up, the more expensive things get and harder to do.
So I really do not understand the 10 field thing. But it is your farm and if it is working for you, that is all that matters.

I had a quick look at your main farm.
A water tower at level 2 would mean you could feed 5 cow-sheds with 40 bags of feed instead of the 50 it takes at the moment. Thats 120 bags/day, 10hrs processing in a lvl5 mill using around 800 wheat. A lvl 4 field with humus produces 135 wheat in 6 hrs. ie 6 fields growing wheat overnight. The numbers suggest you should be having no problems so it may be down to how long you can play each day or when you can play.
Not sure any of this is truly helpful but I hope so.

Thanks for the replies guys... My idea is that everything starts from the fields,
so I am just trying to funnel as much as possible into the animal sheds, to avoid
any being out of feed, and ZZZing.
I have seen some farms with just 4 + 1/2 fields providing for 14 animal sheds, but
as I looked it did not show those that were inactive. So I still am wondering how do
    they do it?

Special seeds from your greenhouse grow more crops, add humus for even more crops.
Upgrade your mill to produce more food faster & a workshop reduces the amount of crops your mill uses.
Water tower reduces the amount of food your animals eat & the amount of fetiliser your orchards need.
Your orchards give leaves to make humus to use on your fields.

Now i have the circle of life song playing in my head lol 8|

I have 4 level 3 fields and 1 small level 2 field. 3 cowsheds, 4 pigs barns and 6 chicken coops. Feed mill level 5. I have so much animal feed I have to sell it off to produce more just so I can keep the mill going to get XPs. I can't imagine needing 12 fields as I have no problem keeping animals fed and happy. I also have 6 orchards and a silo and composter, on two farms, all running full time.

I am only on level 43, so not up to the workshop yet...
It looks as if I will have to get more multipliers or upgrades.
My original thought was that the fields were like Solar-Panels...
The more you have, the more 'POWEEER' is produced.
