?? Newly Bred Horse with advanced Age and High Horse shoes required for training?

I just bred a horse on the Meadow with a Wild Horse and the "goldy" Foal is 4 months old and needs over a 1000 horse shoes to train one level up from where he/she is starting - this is the first time I have run into this with a new horse... have I missed something or is this an error?

No, you did not miss anything. The breeding in meadow works completely different than "normal" breeding. It is actually not a "breeding" at all, it is just called that way. Meadow just adds a bonus points to horse breeding effects or attributes, but horse does not become any younger. You have to breed it "normal" way for those numbers to drop.
